Vendor Gallery = Complete!

Yesiree, our vendor gallery has been completely updated and is pretty dang dazzling, I've gotta say. Click here to take a look-see at our amazing line-up!

In the coming weeks, we'll be sharing more info about event specifics...like the array of D.I.Y. craft classes we'll be offering! Visitors will be able to learn to spin yarn, make beaded jewelry, do needle felting, and more. Hence our tagline above, "Killer Crafts to Buy + Make"! We're really thrilled to provide you guys with the chance to get hands-on with our talented vendors/teachers and hope you will be, too.

Speaking of awesome stuff, our pals at STITCH Austin are currently accepting applications for their upcoming Fall show, which is taking place on November 10 at Austin Music Hall. It's their 5-year anniversary show, and you can expect great Make-and-Take crafts, a fashion show and great DJs, podcasting from Vickie Howell and goodie bags galore. Check out their site for all the deets and tell 'em Felt Club sent ya!

Many thanks to Goli and Natalie of CRAFT magazine for helping us get this on the web at long last. Enjoy this blast from the crafty past, hope it will whet your appetite for Felt Club's upcoming XL Summer event on July 15!

XL Summer Vendor List

Yesterday, our jury spent hours and hours combing through the applications for Felt Club: XL Summer. We had over twice as many applicants as we had spaces for, so it was a lot of work putting this list together. There were laughs, there were arguments, there was a candy binge close to midnight, etc. Some old favorites have returned, but there are a lot of new faces as well. We'll be working on the updated vendor gallery over the next few days and will have it ready to go by early next week. We thought you'd like to see a preview list until then, so check out the names above and start getting excited for July 15...this is going to be a super awesome show!

If you applied and didn't get in, it's not because we don't love you. This is just the list we came up with for this particular event. You're encouraged to apply for future shows, we like to mix things up, and please remember that we're keeping you on file in case of a cancellation. (It has happened in the past.) As always, we thank you for your interest in Felt Club and hope you'll come visit us soon!

Deadline EXTENDED

PSST! Felt Club is away from H.Q. right now, we're visiting the super-fun and highly recommended Maker Faire in San Mateo, so we've decided to extend the deadline to apply for the Felt Club: XL Summer event until midnight Sunday. Hopefully that will give you guys a little more time to get your applications sent in—though I have to say, we've been getting some truly impressive applicants lately and we're all very much looking forward to next week's jury meeting. It will be very hard to narrow it down...which makes me so very excited about the state of crafting today. So many talented crafters, so little time...

SO! You have until MIDNIGHT SUNDAY! APPLY NOW

Thanks and talk to you all again very soon!

The New Adorn is Here!

If you haven't already done so, make a point of picking up the new issue of Adorn magazine (Summer '07) at a craft shop or bookstore near you. It's absolutely packed with craftilicious content, from Susan Beal's DIY weddings article to an interview with quilt maven Denise Schmidt, plus a great "One Bag, Four Ways" feature (one of the bags is made by Felt Club veteran Nicole of Queen Puff Puff!) and an fantastic article by Marie Kare of The Sampler called Craft Fairs 101. The latter is full of helpful tips for craft fair neophytes and veterans alike, and even includes a few photos from last December's Felt Club: XL Holiday event! Subscriptions run a mere $12.99, and they even have a fun blog. Check it out today!

Happy Mother's Day

Yesterday afternoon, Felt Club members Jenny and Jessica spent a few hours making fun crafts with kids and moms at Whole Foods Market. It was a Felt Club mini-event, sort of a "craft-in", if you will, and was an absolute blast. We brought along some supplies like paint, construction paper, glitter and pipecleaners, and used some Whole Foods-procured products such as coffee filters, Organic Fruit Rings cereal, uncooked rigatoni, and kitchen sponges cut into cute shapes. The kids (and moms! and hipsters!) made cards, necklaces, bracelets, and coffee filter flower corsages. What a great way to spend a Saturday! Many thanks to everyone who stopped by to craft with us. We'll be hosting more crafty events there in the future, so stay tuned. If you'd like to see more photos from yesterday, just visit our Flickr pool.

Hope all you mothers are having a wonderful day!

Knitta, Please!

Our favorite gangsta-knit crew is hitting the Standard hotel in Hollywood tomorrow, May 3. Don't know about Knitta yet? Here's some info from their site:

Knitta began in August 2005, when the soon-to-be-Knittas were discussing their frustration over unfinished knitting projects: half-knitted sweaters and balls of yarn gathering dust. That afternoon, they knit their first door handle. Then it dawned on them...a tag crew of knitters, bombing the inner city with vibrant, stitched works of art, wrapped around everything from beer bottles on easy nights to public monuments and utility poles on more ambitious outings. With a mix of clandestine moves and gangsta rap-- Knitta was born! Today, Knitta is a group of ladies of all ages, nationalities, and...gender.
