Thank you, thank you, thank you
This is just a quick post to thank you all for coming out in droves for today's Felt Club: XL Summer Event. We all had an absolute blast!! Believe me when I say that as great as the press we got was, we still had no idea the crowds were going to end up being so enormous. Clearly we have outgrown our venue! Please know that we are aware of the situation and are hard at work coming up with new and better ways to bring you Felt Club fun in the future.

For everyone who has been asking, we are indeed doing a holiday show on November 18 (no, applications will not be available for another couple of months), and rest assured that the venue we're using for that show is MUCH larger, very well ventilated, and just downright fabulous. We'll be able to share more specifics with you on that soon, so please stay tuned! We think you'll be very pleased.

Many, many thanks so all of you who braved the crowds and heat to come support the super-crafty L.A. scene. Heartfelt apologies to those of you who couldn't take it, and we thank you so much for supporting us as we sort out our growing pains in order to continue bringing you the very best handmade awesomeness California has to offer. We're extremely grateful for your interest in what we're doing, you're the best!!

TONIGHT: Savanna Snow @ Reform School

WOW, this weekend keeps getting better and better! Of course we have our XL Summer event happening on Sunday, as you know, and Saturday is the Modern Fables opening at Tinlark—but there's yet another amazing opening happening tonight, from 7-10pm at our fave neighborhood haunt, Reform School! The show is called Totem, and here's what you can expect:
In her first solo show, Savanna, an Art Center alum, explores mythologies and re-imagined Gods. Featuring an installation, drawings & mixed media works assimilating an antique christian hymnal and other reclaimed materials.
Come & meet Savanna and enjoy her amazing talent at the artist reception, Friday, July 13th at 7pm. As always there will be plenty of goodies on hand...This time around...Sangria and Cuban treats.

Felt Club in the L.A. Times

Hooray! The Los Angeles Times did a full-page feature article on Felt Club in today's paper! It appeared in the Calendar pull-out section. For some reason they did not credit the bottom two photos, so for your reference, those are Nerdy Birdies made by Tsai Fi on the left, and a Mushroom Pincushion on the right, by Cathy of California.

Many thanks to writer Lina Lecaro and the L.A. Times for the great coverage! Those of you not near a copy of the paper can read it online here.

Our friends at Tinlark Gallery have an amazing show coming up called Modern Day Fables, featuring Laura Normandin, Maggy Hiltner, and Ann Wood. Craft Magazine will be on hand with craft projects for the kiddies, and there will be giveaways from Asthmatic Kitty records as well as a live performance from I Heart Lung. There's definitely going to be plenty of great stuff to read at XL Summer...the swag bags contain books from Chronicle & Aranzi Aronzo, plus magazines from Adorn & Craft...but we've also published our very own event program! Featuring a full color cover drawn by Martin Cendreda, this 24-page program includes fun craft projects from our vendors, event listings, plus a full-color pull-out centerfold shot of our mascot, Gluey Gluerson! Only 2,000 were printed, so show up at our event and grab one while you still can...it's a keeper!

Auntie Em's Kitchen

This just in: We've hooked up with an amazing food vendor for our event, Auntie Em's Kitchen! If you've never tasted the grub at this outstanding Eagle Rock eatery, you are in for a major treat. Auntie Em's is is renowned for their fresh, updated take on classics...everything from turkey meatloaf sandwiches and portobello mushroom salads to homefries and veggie sandwiches. Their baked goods (especially the coconut and red velvet cupcakes!) are the talk of the town as well, which makes sense since they're mindblowingly delicious. We're so happy to have them aboard, and hope you'll check 'em out at the event, and at their cute location in Eagle Rock.
Class Schedule Now Available

We've been making a bunch of updates to our website, so please check out our XL Summer-specific Info page soon for the entire scoop on this sure-to-be-amazing event. Crafty AND Thirsty? No problem.

Yessir, that's right, our generous pals at IZZE are giving away free cans of their all-natural sparkling fruit juice: one in each of our 250 swag bags! There will also be big ol' barrels full of icy-cold IZZE at the event, free for the taking (while supplies last). If you want to give their products a try before the event (highly recommended!), check 'em out at a Whole Foods (or other discriminating grocery store) near you.

Chronicle Books = Craft Book Heaven

WHOA. There's a big ol' 30% off sale happening at Chronicle Books through July 4...that's a big savings on all of their titles, plus you get free shipping! Chronicle has a well-deserved reputation for putting out some of the most beautifully-produced books out there, and their craft books are no exception. I can think of several killer craft books they've published which are total must-haves, such as Sublime Stitching, Lotta Jansdotter's Simple Sewing, Subversive Cross Stitch, Pretty in Punk...the list goes on and on!

Just be sure to enter the code SUMMERSALE at checkout for the special discount. This would also be a good time for me to share the news that Chronicle is one the sponsors of our XL Summer event! As such, they'll be providing some amazing door prizes for our visitors (photos/details to come), and each one of our 250 swag bags will feature a copy of Kris Percival's book Speed Knitting! If that ain't enough to get you lined up at the door early, I don't know what is...
